Nida Arif received her PhD from Department of English, University of Delhi. Her Doctoral thesis “Literature of Resistance: A Study of Ghassan Kanafani’s Selected Works” is a study of Palestinian novelist Ghassan Kanafani’s critical and fictional works as “Literature of Resistance”. The category, itself, was first coined by Ghassan Kanafani to refer to a form of literature that is written and circulated when a people are under occupation or colonization, and before a national liberation project reaches its completion. In her thesis, she has critically analyzed each of Kanafani’ four complete novellas with tropes of Palestinian National narrative: nakba (orcatastrophe), ghourba (alienated exile), thawra (revolution) and awdah (return). For her thesis, she translated Kanafani’s hitherto untranslated works from Arabic to English.
