Prof. Sonia Trikha Shuklais currently co-authoring a book on the India-China border policy, and is an Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Studies.

Sonia is a Chevening Fellow from the University of Westminster. After a career as an international affairs reporter and editor at national news organisations such as India Today and The Indian Express, Sonia launched and edited a strategic affairs magazine called, Defence and Security of India. Sonia’s writings cover issues such as: India’s fight against terrorism and the rise of fundamentalist forces in the region, India-Pakistan and Sino-Indian relations, missile defence, and India’s neighbourhood and regional policies. Her articles and papers have appeared in China Report, The Independent in UK, Business Standard, Caravan and Hard News. She has presented papers at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London and the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies in Shimla, among others. Sonia has also edited a book on Peace Processes in Asia and Africa.

As part of her research on India’s borderlands, Sonia has travelled extensively across India’s borderlands. She has also travelled and researched in countries that border India and those that impact its border policies, such as Tibet and other parts of China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
