Biography

Sumit is an independent filmmaker with over 16 years of experience. He has been working as a director, cinematographer and producer in non-fiction genre.

Sumit has been part of documentary projects for global broadcasters such as National Geographic, History TV and Arte´ and has produced short films for international development organizations such as Doctors without Borders (MSF), HelpMeSee, and the Centre for Science & Environment.

He has also been involved in films for agencies like European Environmental Agency, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, OXFAM, Rivers are life  and the ICC as well as promotional films for various corporate giants such as  Deloitte, CNBC, Warburg Pincus, Leica, DHL, Verizon and Amazon to name a few.

The projects Sumit worked on have been part of various international film festivals and have won numerous awards. He was one of the associate producers on the Oscar nominated documentary Writing with Fire which won many acclaimed awards internationally, including the prestigious Peabody Award.

With deep interests in climate change narratives in present times, his independent work gravitates towards understanding lives of people and their relationship with the nature that surrounds them. He is currently working on an independent documentary exploring the into complex relationship between climate crisis, communities & livelihood in the higher Himalayan region.
