Studio: B.A. (Hons.) Journalism & Media Studies

JSJC students receive extensive training in radio and video/television-related production skills. They are expected to be absolutely hands-on with all the studio equipment, so that they emerge as professionals who are as much at home reporting on the ground as they are in the studio.

Students learn to pitch, conceive, design and produce programmes as they work with cutting-edge equipment at high-definition studios:

  • Video Studio with broadcast cameras and a high-end control room to gain studio production skills for live video programmes.
  • Recording Studio with a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and high-quality professional microphones to record and produce discussions, talks, and radio drama.
  • Video Editing Laboratory to film videos in high-definition (HD) quality, the current broadcast standard, with editing and mastering on computerised editing systems.
  • Audio Editing Laboratory with multiple digital audio-editing workstations to learn popular editing tools like Adobe Audition for broadcast-ready audio programming.
  • Radio work on high-quality digital field-recording equipment.
  • Still photography and field shooting on professional-grade Sony Alpha A7 III cameras, with additional lenses, fluid-head tripods, lapel and shotgun microphones.
  • Green-screen and live subtitling facilities, as well as an extensive lighting grid.
