Study Abroad Collaborations

Overseas Graduate Studies

Our alumni have secured admission at reputed institutions such as the University of Oxford, London School of Economics, School of Oriental and African Studies and Kings College, London. Our students usually apply for graduate studies at universities in Asia, United Kingdom and the United States. We regularly conduct workshops and interactive sessions where students get a chance to interact with faculty at overseas institutions for valuable counsel on application and admission.

We encourage students to apply for graduate student scholarships and make sure they are abreast with the latest information.

Student Exchange and Summer Schools
Our students get to attend international summer schools and in the past participated at a prestigious programme at the University of California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

We encourage students to spend a semester abroad studying at one of our partner institutions with a number of the world’s top-ranking, prestigious universities. Know more about our global partners.

In the past students visited KOC University Istanbul, Turkey and Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya near Tel Aviv in Israel to report on refugee/ immigration crisis, religious extremism and stories of ethnic/ diplomatic conflict.

In the true spirit of remote learning, JSJC students were nominated to register for online courses in 2021 at the University of Sydney; We also welcome international students to spend a semester at JSJC students of Universitas Pancasakti Tegal, Indonesia enrolled for our online courses.

International Conferences

Our faculty regularly attend international conferences and in the past presented their research at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and International Communication Association (ICA) annual meetings in places like Chicago and Prague as well as at the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies Conference at the University of Lund, among others. Mrinalini Sinha of the University of Michigan, Arvind Rajagopal of New York University, Cherian George of Hong Kong Baptist University, Britta Ohm and Chinmayi Arun, affiliate of the Berkman Klein Center of Internet & Society at Harvard University are among scholars of global repute who visited JSJC to address our students and faculty.

In 2019, JSJC hosted a joint conference with the University of Oregon and invited scholars and academics from across the world to present their research.

Studying at Koç University was a great learning experience. I learnt a great deal about using the skills we learn in our classes as I had a range of courses such as film and video production, which required practical application of the skill learnt in class. Istanbul is a beautiful city and I enjoyed exploring it while I was there. There were a few challenges such as the unpredictable weather. However, one gets used to it. It was an experience of a lifetime. People from all over Europe and Asia were part of the exchange, which gave me a truly global experience.
