The Centre for Afghanistan Studies celebrated Shab-e-Nowruz on 21 March 2025 to mark the Persian New Year through art, poetry, and cultural exchange. The celebration opened with the beautifully arranged Haft-Seen table, a traditional display representing renewal, health, and prosperity. Students and faculty contributed poetry readings, historical presentations, and musical performances that brought Afghanistan’s cultural richness to life. Aditya presented the history of Nowruz and its customs across regions, while student Adhikshita recited heartfelt poetry that captured the spirit of renewal and hope. The JGU classical dance society Tadheem performed a graceful Kathak routine set to Afghan rhythms, symbolising the harmony between Indian and Afghan traditions. The evening concluded with spontaneous dance and music, as participants celebrated unity and joy. The event was both an artistic and educational experience, reminding the audience that cultural festivals are not merely traditions but living expressions of shared humanity. Through Shab-e-Nowruz, the Centre for Afghanistan Studies promoted the value of intercultural dialogue and the importance of preserving traditions that foster peace, connection, and collective celebration.
