The Centre for Afghanistan Studies organised a guest lecture on 25 September 2025 featuring peace activist Mr. Faisal Khan. Mr. Khan, National Convenor of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement, spoke about reviving the philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, known as Frontier Gandhi. Professor Bilquees Daud opened the session by reflecting on the diminishing space for non-violent traditions in an age of rising extremism. Mr. Khan redefined non-violence as an act of deliberate moral courage rather than passivity. He shared stories from his peace walks across India, where he built trust in communities divided by fear. His initiatives, such as Sabka Ghar and Sadbhavna Vahan, were described as living examples of interfaith harmony. Drawing from Gandhian, Sufi, and dharmic thought, he explained that the essence of peace lies in education, empathy, and self-restraint. He warned that without moral responsibility at the individual level, state-driven peace efforts remain incomplete. Professor Daud concluded the event by thanking Mr. Khan for uniting intellectual insight with lived activism. The lecture reminded participants that the legacy of non-violence continues wherever individuals choose understanding over anger and empathy over hate.
