At the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy (JSGP), we approach public policy as a people-centred practice, recognising that technical expertise must serve the people’s interests. Policy decisions require due deliberation, with ample opportunities afforded to ordinary people to shape those policy decisions.
The Master of Arts – Public Policy program trains students to build careers in the current complex policy environment, especially in the development and institutional contexts of the Global South. It uses an interdisciplinary approach to study and analyze contemporary political, economic, social and environmental issues coherently and comprehensively. It is carefully structured to impart a firm grounding in theory, covering key literature and debates. Students develop quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, receive exposure to the real-world policy making process, and enhance their managerial skills. They are encouraged to choose courses and topics that will stimulate intellectual curiosity and help them develop expertise in their selected domains.
The online program is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India and opens opportunities especially for working professionals to equip themselves with relevant knowledge and skill sets to undertake policy analysis, policy formulation, monitoring, and assessment. Thus it would enrich them professionally and prepare them for more challenging responsibilities in public and corporate careers.
The JSGP Online Master of Arts Public Policy programme is hosted by Coursera and substantially mirrors JSGP’s two-year conventional M.A. Public Policy programme. However, in the online version, the curriculum has been adapted for the global enrolment of students. The program requires earning 80 credits by completing three kinds of courses: Foundational, Essential and Electives. Learning is spread over four terms in two years although working professionals who need more time to complete the program may take up to three years.
Programme cohorts begin in February and September of each year.
The deadline for applications each year is August 25 for the Fall cohort and February 22 for the Spring Cohort. Visit our Coursera weblink https://www.coursera.org/degrees/ma-public-policy-jgu for the early decision application deadline and link for applying to the program.
