Course Information

The two-year M.A. Public Policy programme equips students to perform effectively in complex policy environments. It is interdisciplinary in approach and enables students to address contemporary political, economic and social issues in a coherent and comprehensive manner. This programme imparts a strong training, in theory, covering key literature and debates. Students develop quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, receive an exposure to the real-world policy making process, and enhance their managerial skills.

The programme has been designed to equip future policymakers and public leaders with competence to perform effectively in challenging environments. Students are put through a rigorous process of assessment via class tests, research papers and final master’s dissertation  

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from any recognised university. Admission is based on performance in undergraduate degree and in the entrance examination. Students completing their bachelor’s degree in 2021 can also apply.

Credit Structure

The curriculum offers a mix of theoretical, practical, and methodological courses. The curriculum comprises of core and elective courses on designing, implementing, and evaluating public policies. A range of electives offers opportunity to specialise in specific policy sectors such as health, urban development, land, and environment, etc. Students are required to successfully complete 90 credits, spread over 4 semesters, which includes writing a dissertation or undertake a capstone project.

Scholarship Rules for Undergraduate

O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University) awards Merit cum Means Scholarships (MCM) every year. The MCM Scholarship covers the tuition fee only. Scholarship applications will be opened by the University by 1 April and will be awarded to eligible students in July. The eligibility criteria include annual family income, 12th XII board score, JSAT or standardized examination results and faculty interview score. Weightage will also be given to curricular and non-curricular achievements.

Scholarship Rules for Post Undergraduate Post-Graduate

The university offers generous scholarships on following four criteria:
  • Merit (University Exam )
  • Means (Family Income)
  • Performance in *JGU Entrance Exam
  • Interview
To avail the scholarship student must apply on prescribed form and submit last two year’s IT return of both parents/guardian whichever is applicable within the due dates

JSGP has a dedicated team of faculty and staff to assist students to obtain internships, in both India and abroad, as per students’ preferences and interests. Students are required to complete two to three internships.

M.A.PP graduates are equipped to work in development & public policy organisations, CSR initiatives , academic institutions, think tanks, NGOs, media & political organizations.

Our students have embarked on a successful career in the UNDP, World Health Organisation (Geneva), NITI Aayog, Centre for Policy Research, PRATHAM, Teach for India, Observer Research Foundation, CUTS-Jaipur Public Policy Division; Centre for Public Policy Research (Kochi), Centre for Budget and Government Accountability (CBGA), Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS), Public Affairs Centre (Bangalore).
