The M.A. Economics syllabus comprises core and elective courses that are carefully balanced, drawing upon the classical tradition and the modern theoretical developments in the discipline and their application to real-world issues.*
The two years M.A. Economics programme at JSGP spans four semesters comprising a total of 90 credits. This includes 12 core courses and 6 electives of four credits each and a dissertation comprising 8 credits. The first two semesters cover 5 core courses each, followed by 2 core and 3 electives in the third semester and 3 electives and dissertation in the final semester. An alternative track of studying two additional electives instead of a dissertation in the final semester is possible.
The pedagogic approach to the programme includes a combination of lectures, tutorials, group discussions, computer lab training, and one-to-one guidance in the writing of the dissertation.
