Biography

Dr Vernon Dmello is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS), O. P. Jindal Global University. He holds a PhD in Psychology from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and an MA in Clinical Psychology with distinction (first rank) from Nowrosjee Wadia College, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, and has qualified the UGC-NET with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

With industry experience as a Psychometrician, he has been involved in building end-to-end assessments spanning role profiling, construct mapping, norm creation, and client-ready reporting. He has led youth-volunteering initiatives (training programs, camps, community outreach) and works closely with old-age homes, co-designing and evaluating low-cost well-being interventions for residents.

He has taught Psychological Testing, Social Psychology, Sports Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Statistics. His research focuses on autonomy and well-being in workplaces and confined living environments; the development and validation of conventional and novel psychometric assessments; positive-psychology interventions; humour, group dynamics and collective behaviour; the cognitive-emotional dimensions of online gaming and esports (including stress phenomena such as inting); and technology-enabled applications of psychology.

A lifelong technology tinkerer, open-source advocate, and self-hosting enthusiast, he explores where technology meets behaviour; when not immersed in data or social theory, he’s often watching esports and thinking about how in-game strategy maps onto real-world social dynamics.
