Prof. Fouzia Zafar is an Associate Professor and Assistant Director, Centre for Global Corporate Law Financial Law & Policy at JGLS. Fouzia Zafar’s teaching and research interests lie in the areas of private law theory, insurance law and regulation of financial markets. Prior to joining Jindal, Fouzia practiced at an international law firm in Hong Kong and London for nearly 6 years. Her practice covered a wide range of advisory and contentious work in commercial and corporate law with a particular focus on insurance and reinsurance disputes and the use of insurance in financial and corporate transactions.

She acted for clients in the hospitality, resources and financial sectors on a range of complex, high-value disputes in a number of jurisdictions across diverse forums, including the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the High Court of Hong Kong. During her time in practice, Fouzia also worked as in-house counsel at the London office of HSBC where her primary responsibility was advising the Bank’s insurance business units. Fouzia is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales.
