Ajay Maherchandani has completed his Bachelors of Legal Science and Bachelors of Law (B.L.S. , LL.B.) from the University of Mumbai and consequently has done his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Access to Justice from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He has also audited three courses from the Master of Arts (M.A.) program in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, University of Mumbai. He is interested in the area of education and pedagogy and wants to research using phenomenological methods within law. His academic interests emerge from a sociological lens and he views society through a caste-class-gendered framework and thus works within such an intersectional standpoint in law.
He has published a paper titled ‘A Phenomenological Analysis of a Consumer’s Lived Experience of Pornography and Homoeroticism’ in the Indian Journal of Health, Sexuality and Culture in 2019. Being a student member of the Indian Sociological Society, he has presented various papers through the lens of sociology and law in national and an international conference.
