Hatim is currently pursuing PhD in Law at the University of Oxford on Rhodes Scholarship. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Hatim read for Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at University of Oxford as well as a Masters in Management Sciences (MMSc) at Tsinghua University, China on Schwarzman Scholarship. He also holds dual degrees in commerce and law from Gujarat National Law University, India (B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.), where he graduated with several gold medals and an award for best overall performance in the undergraduate degree.
His doctoral research focuses on developing a conceptual and functional framework for proprietary rights in natively digital assets under insolvency law. He is a qualified lawyer in India, advising on fintech (with a focus on payments, digital assets, and blockchain technology), data protection, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, gaming, and telecom matters. He holds several years of previous working experience in financial services sector and has served on several senior management/C-Suite level roles – most recently as Head of Quality with Reg Genome, a regulatory intelligence company; and as Chief Risk and Legal Officer (CRO/CLO) and Global MLRO with nsave, a Swiss Series A fintech. He has also previously worked in various capacities with the United Nations Development Programme, International Monetary Fund, Boldly Go Philanthropy, Financial Innovation for Impact and Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) (where he is currently a Research Affiliate). Hatim is also a tutor for the University of Cambridge's FinTech and Regulatory Innovation (CFTRI) and Digital Assets for Regulators (CDAR) programmes.
Hatim's area of expertise lies at the intersection of law, finance and technology.
