B.A. LL.B. (HONS.)

The B.A. LL.B. (Hons) Curriculum at JGLS consists of compulsory and elective courses of maximum one semester.

The compulsory courses are designed to ensure that every student gains  sufficient grounding in the fundamental branches of the law, as well as satisfy applicable requirements for admission to practice; the elective courses provide an opportunity to develop particular interests and to deepen understanding.

Each full semester course is worth 4 credits (with the exception of electives worth 1 to 4 credits), with 40 credits per year being the minimum full-time load adopted by the University. The normal full-time load in each semester is therefore 20 credits. Students may choose to take on a higher load subject to the prior consent of the Office of Academic Affairs. In no event shall the load for any semester be in excess of 28 credits.

In order to be awarded a B.A. LL.B. (Hons) degree, students must be awarded no less than 208 credits in total, distributed as follows:

• Two English language courses, worth 8 credits in aggregate
• At least 12 compulsory courses in the Arts and Humanities subjects, worth 48 credits in aggregate;
• At least 20 compulsory courses in law, worth 80 credits in aggregate;
• At least 14 elective courses (including 8 courses undertaken in pursuance of an honours degree), worth 56 credits in aggregate;
• 4 Compulsory Clinical Courses, worth 16 credits in aggregate.

Students may be awarded credits for undertaking co-curricular activities which allow them to develop legal reasoning skills and enhance their understanding of the law. Credits earned on account of permissible co-curricular activity will count towards the total 208 credits required to be awarded a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree.

O.P. Jindal Outstanding Merit Scholarships
The top five LSAT-India test scorers who enrol in the three year LL.B. programme, five year B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme and a one year LL.M. programme will be awarded the O.P. Jindal Outstanding Merit Scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh per year. This will be based solely on their performance in the LSAT—India admission test.

Naveen Jindal Young Global Scholarships
The aim of the scholarship is to nurture, encourage and support young global leaders. One student from the five year B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme, one student from the three year LL.B. and another student from the one year LL.M. programme will be awarded this scholarship on the basis of an independent selection process. An award of one year programme fee will be given to the student of B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.B programme and for LL.M. 50% of the programme fee will be awarded to the selected student of LL.M. programme.

Shallu Jindal Outstanding Women Scholarships
The aim of the scholarship is to nurture, encourage and support outstanding women to enter the field of law. Two students from the three year LL.B. programme, two students from the five year B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and two students from the one year LL.M. programme will be awarded this scholarship on the basis of an independent selection process. An award of 50% of one year programme fee will be given to each student.

Studentships ranging from 10% to 50% of tuition fees are awarded on merit-cum-means basis to a substantial number of selected students as per university rules.

JGLS believes that an international experience is essential for students to recognize and embrace different cultural and community perspectives, creating new career opportunities and broadening their worldview. To facilitate this, JGLS offers a range of geographically diverse and academically enriching Student Exchange programmes for one semester. These programmes offer students the opportunity to study abroad at one of JGLS’s partner institutions, spread across varying legal systems, and bring back a unique learning experience. The exchanges not only enrich students’ academic and professional lives, but also enhance language learning, intercultural skills, self-reliance, and self-awareness, making them citizens of the world.

The programme is open to students pursuing the five-year B.Com. / B.B.A. LL.B / B.A. LL.B, three-year LL.B., and one-year LL.M. programmes. Eligible students from JGLS spend a semester at one of our partner institutions across the globe, and the programme is revenue-neutral with respect to tuition fees.

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) provides an academic support programme called the ‘LIFE in Law’ programme for students who face academic challenges. This programme is designed to assist students who need additional support in passing their re-sit examinations. The ‘LIFE in Law’ programme is a teaching-oriented programme, with a focus on preparing students for re-sit examinations.

The programme is designed to cater to the needs of students who require assistance in academics. It provides a support system to help students overcome academic challenges and succeed in their studies. The entire programme is designed to be teaching-oriented, with a focus on preparing students for re-sit examinations.
