This two-week programme focuses on Europe’s political and historical journey and the close association between its civilizational past and the spectacular impact it has had on the region’s cultural and artistic self-expression in these past centuries. The programme draws from different disciplines like Politics, Economics, History, Cultural Studies, Art History and Law to provide an interdisciplinary framework to understand the history of Europe in the last century and the current political debates that grip the continent today. Four days of the programme are specially dedicated to supervised and curated field/site visits to view paintings, visit museums, and music recitals that relate to the themes covered in class by an excellent cohort of Oxford faculty members.
