Professor (Dr.) Laknath Jayasinghe is Dean, Office of International Affairs & Global Initiatives (IAGI). He concurrently serves as Professor of Marketing at Jindal Global Business School (JGBS). His new appointment at IAGI is in line with JGU’s overall vision of internationalisation and to have senior academic leaders making significant contributions to various important university offices. Laknath has been a part of the senior leadership team at JGU since July 2017.

With more than 15 year’s experience in the academic field — including education, research, and administration roles at leading Australian universities such as Monash University, University of Newcastle, and Macquarie University — Laknath’s current work at IAGI primarily focuses on developing and implementing internationalization strategies at the University level.

In his role as Vice Dean (International) from 2020 to 2024 he oversaw the planning, development, and execution of JGBS’s internationalisation agenda. From 2017 to 2020, Laknath served as Vice Dean (Research) at JGBS. He is currently an Associate Director at JGU’s Centre for India Australia Studies (CIAS).

Australian born and raised, Laknath has over ten year’s experience in the Australian advertising and brand insights sector. His PhD degree in Consumer Anthropology is from the University of Melbourne; and he holds a MPhil degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Queensland, and bachelor degrees from the University of Melbourne and from Queensland University of Technology.

As a Marketing professor, Laknath teaches courses such as Consumer Behaviour and Brand Management. He has also published in top-tier business school journals such as Journal of Consumer Research, and Marketing Theory; as well as in general interest venues like the US literary icon, Harper’s Magazine
