The Office of International Affairs and Global Initiatives at O.P. Jindal Global University extends assistance to inbound students arriving at JGU for their higher education pursuits in various capacities.

Inbound (exchange) students, hailing from another university (referred to as the home institution), come to O.P. Jindal Global University (referred to as the host institution) as part of a collaboration agreement between the two universities.

The Office of International Affairs and Global Initiatives is dedicated to facilitating your transition. We are here to guide you through the process of preparing for your arrival in Sonipat and acclimating to the environment at JGU. Before finalizing your travel plans, ensure that you secure your place at JGU by accepting the study offer and make necessary arrangements for paying your tuition fees to expedite your arrival process.

Before your arrival as an international student at O.P. Jindal Global University, there are several essential steps you should take to ensure a smooth transition. These include accepting your study offer and making arrangements for paying your tuition fees. Additionally, it’s crucial to initiate the process of obtaining your study visa as early as possible to avoid any potential delays. This proactive approach will help streamline your arrival process and ensure that you can begin your academic journey at JGU without any unnecessary obstacles.

Apply for your Visa
  • Allow a minimum of 12 weeks (or longer) to get your study visa, especially during peak periods when there is high demand (due to many students applying) or during the holiday season when the embassies and consulates will be closed. Apply as soon as possible, do write to us for any supporting documents you need from IAGI.
  • Be sure to check it covers the full duration of your program of study, if not consult the Indian Embassy or Consulate immediately before traveling to India.
    On arrival, at the Immigration and customs, you might be asked copies of documents to verify your visa and immigration status. Ensure you carry copies of the supporting documents in your hand luggage for a quick and hassle-free arrival experience in India.
Passport

When it comes to your passport for studying in India, ensure the following:

  • Validity: Your passport should be valid for the entire duration of your stay in India. Check the expiration date and make sure it doesn’t expire during your time abroad.
  • Please Your name on the passport must match exactly with the name on your supporting documents from JGU. Any discrepancies could lead to administrative issues or delays in your enrollment process.
  • On arrival, at Immigration and Customs, you might be asked for copies of documents to verify your visa and immigration status. Ensure you carry copies of the supporting documents in your hand luggage for a quick and hassle-free arrival experience in India.
Accommodation
  • P. Jindal Global University is a residential university; all students will be provided accommodation on campus. The University’s Hall of Residence is designed by a French architect. Take out insurance and look into healthcare
  • Ensure that you have medical aid coverage as it is a mandatory requirement for obtaining a study visa and entry into India. This coverage should extend for the entire duration of your study in India. It is essential to always keep your medical aid coverage details with you to ensure access to necessary medical services and assistance throughout your stay.
  • It’s advisable to carry an adequate supply of any medications you regularly take, as the ingredients in prescriptions may vary from one country to another. This ensures that you have uninterrupted access to your required medications during your stay abroad.
