JGU celebrates 15th Anniversary and University Day
O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) celebrated its 15th Anniversary and University Day on September 30, marking the day when the University’s first academic session began in 2009. Since then, JGU has been celebrating September 30 as its University Day.
JGU marked the University Day with the 15th Anniversary University Day Lecture by Professor (Dr.) Jeffrey Liebman, Robert W. Scrivener Professor of Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School; Director, Taubman Center for State & Local Government; and Director, Government Performance Lab, Harvard University, USA. It was followed by a celebration, especially with the university students.
JGU’s beginning on September 30, 2009 was modest with a little over 100 students, 10 faculty members and 1 school. What started in 2009 with a single school has quickly, in a short span of 15 years, evolved into a multidisciplinary university with global reach that is recognised as an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India. With 12 schools and 4 research and capacity building institutes, JGU now has over 13,000 students from 75+ countries, and over 4,000 faculty and administrative staff from 50+ countries.
Staying true to its founding vision of being a global university, JGU has collaborations with over 500 institutions from 75+ countries, making the learning experience truly international. From just 4 classrooms and 50 acres of land, JGU has expanded to a 100-acre university campus with over 150 state-of-the-art classrooms spread across 4 Academic Blocks, a Faculty Office Block exclusively built for the faculty members, and a Dining Block spread across 7 floors.
