In September, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (UNESCO APCEIU) invited Prof. (Dr.) Mousumi Mukherjee, Associate Professor & Deputy Director, International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd), to Seoul, South Korea, to participate in the first face-to-face workshop on the research project held after the 9th International Conference on Global Citizenship Education on the theme Revitalizing Multilateralism for Peace through GCED. Dr. Mukherjee was also invited to speak during the closing plenary on September 5, in which she began by explaining why that date is celebrated as the Teachers’ Day in India.
Last year, Dr. Mukherjee was invited by the Director of UNESCO-APCEIU, Dr. Lim Hyun Mook, to join a research team of 9 experts from the Asia-Pacific region to work on a collaborative research project titled Redefining Global Citizenship Competencies from Asia Pacific Perspectives. The outcome of the project will be published by UNESCO-APCEIU later this year in a book.
