Professor (Dr.) Sreeram Chaulia, Dean of Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA) and Director General of Jindal India Institute (JII), has published his sixth singly authored book, ‘Friends: India’s Closest Strategic Partners’ (Rupa Publications, New Delhi).
As a founding faculty member of JGU who joined us in 2009, Dr. Chaulia has consistently generated high quality writing and scholarship in international affairs over the past 15 years in both longer formats like books, book chapters and academic journal articles as well as shorter formats like newspaper and magazine op-eds and columns. Apart from teaching, administration and writing, he anchors a widely watched weekly TV show, Indian Diplomacy, on India’s national TV channel Doordarshan and has devoted his life to raising awareness about foreign affairs in our country.
This latest book by Dr. Chaulia focusses on seven countries with whom India is advancing very deep and productive friendships, namely Japan, Australia, the USA, Russia, France, Israel and the UAE. It is expected that the book will be widely read and cited by scholars and policymakers, as there is no such single work where India’s military, economic and geopolitical coordination with so many countries is covered in one volume.
