The Centre undertakes research on contemporary issues in development and public finance that are of relevance to Indian and other developing economies. More specifically, the focus is on monitoring and analyzing macroeconomic issues in development policy, including economic reforms; growth-sustainability; exploring the concept of public policy effectiveness; evolving a contextually relevant framework for state-level policy assessment in India; support evidence-based policymaking and bringing together state-of-the-art policy analysis; and undertake research on thematic issues of importance to India’s development transformation. Some work in the area of human rights and development, especially in the use of quantitative indicators in human rights assessments, employment issues in India’s context and global governance and development issues including on Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is also being done at the Centre. All research undertaken at the Centre will be disseminated through publications, both in-house and external, journals and books.
