Biography

Dr. Swagata Bhattacharjee is an Associate Professor at JSGP. She completed her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bhattacharjee has earned her B.Sc. From Presidency College, Kolkata in 2008, MS (Quantitative Economics) from Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi in 2010 and MS from University of Texas at Austin in 2012. Prior to joining JGU, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Ashoka University. Her primary research interest lies in Applied Microeconomic Theory and Experimental Economics.

Dr. Bhattacharjee’s research has focused on the study of dynamic contracts under ambiguity, information economics, approximation in auctions, and public good provision. She uses both theoretical and experimental methods. In one of her current projects, she explores the revenue approximation properties of near-optimal auctions using laboratory experiments and analyzes the role of the cognitive ability of bidders in auctions. Another avenue of research that she is currently pursuing examines the informational value of online reviews using a social learning approach.
