The CIAS empowers, engages and educates students and young leaders in Australia and India through student mobility programs, internships, short courses, seminars and lectures.

The CIAS’s flagship programs, such as the India Immersion Programme and the international internship program, create opportunities for young Indians to experience Australia and young Australians to immerse themselves in the Indian culture during short-courses in India.

  • The India Immersion Programme: A 3-week residential program which aims to introduce Australian students to the many different facets of India such as Law, Business and Politics. The CIAS has hosted more than 80 students, supported by the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan funding.

  • International Internships: The CIAS provides opportunities for Indian and Australian students to undertake an internship in Australian and Indian companies or Government Departments, giving them a chance to gain valuable insights in how to do business across borders. To date, more than 30 students have completed internships under this program.

  • Australia Studies course: The CIAS convenes an elective course entitled “Contemporary Australia Studies”, which gives students at O.P. Jindal Global University the chance to learn about Australian Society, Law, Business and Foreign Policy.

  • Summer Schools: The CIAS partners with Australian partner institutions to enable Indian students to complete summer schools on their campuses.

  • Short courses: The CIAS convenes a number of short courses in conjunction with academics from Australia, enabling Indian students to gain valuable insights across disciplines, often from an Australian perspective. To date, courses on Sports Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property have been taught in by Australian academics and practitioners at O.P. Jindal Global University.

  • Pathway programmes and degrees: The CIAS and O.P. Jindal Global University have partnered with a number of Australian universities to encourage students to study in Australia through pathway programs. These programs provide opportunities for a seamless transition into postgraduate courses in Australia.

  • Recognition of JGLS law degree in Australia: The Law Council of Australia has formally reconigised the Jindal Global Law School degree, enabling students to pursue a streamlined pathway into practicing law in Australia, on completion of fewer units than normally required and practical legal training.

  • Student exchange programmes: The CIAS and O.P. Jindal Global University encourage students to study abroad in Australia and India, to experience the other country over a semester length exchange. To date, numerous students have participated on long term exchange from India to Australia and vice versa.
