Public Lecture by the Dean of Deakin University, Melbourne

"Corporate Governance and Law: A Comparison between India and Australia" by Professor Sandeep Gopalan, Dean of Deakin University Law School. [ 5 October 2016]


The Centre for India Australia Studies was pleased to host a delegation from Deakin University, Melbourne, comprising Professor Gopalan, Dean of Dealing University Law School and Ms Ravneet Pawha, Director - South Asia at Deakin University.

Professor Sandeep Gopalan addressed a full lecture theatre on trends in Corporate Governance in India, Australia and the rest of the world. In particular, Professor Gopalan shared his research on the importance of diversity on Boards and the different schools of thought on how increased diversity can improve a company's performance.

Following his lecture, Professor Gopalan and Ms Ravneet Pawha met with the Vice Chancellor, Professor C. Raj Kumar to discuss possible avenues of collaboration between the two institutions. The delegation from Melbourne were involved in numerous interactions with faculty from JGU's different Schools throughout the day. It is hoped that their visit to Sonipat will continue to strengthen the relationship between our two institutions.
