On 23 September 2017, the Centre for India Australia Studies (CIAS) and Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) launched a joint course on Sports Law and Governance in partnership with TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland. Panelists during the launch included Mr. Bishan Singh Bedi, former captain of the Indian cricket team; Mr. Chris Elstoft, Australia’s Acting High Commissioner in India; Mr. Michael Kasprowicz, Former Australian Cricketer and Cricket Australia Board member; Dr. Sarah Kelly, Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland; and Professor Shaun Star, Executive Director of the CIAS and Assistant Professor & Assistant Dean at JGLS. Participants discussed the importance of improving governance structures in sport in both countries and the opportunity for collaboration in this field.
