Professor Kumar Addresses Judicial Officers, Law Students, and High Schools in Ranchi
The Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, a Rhodes Scholar and an alumnus of Oxford and Harvard Law Schools, who is also the founding dean of Jindal Global Law School visited Ranchi during 8-9 September, 2016 along with other faculty members on the invitation from the Jharkhand Judicial Academy and National University of Studies and Research in Law (NUSRL) Ranchi.
Professor Raj Kumar had a meeting with the Hon’ble Governor Mrs. Droupadi Murmu where he briefed the Governor about O.P. Jindal Global University and discussed how to upgrade and improve the quality of education in the Universities of Jharkhand State and how to make them world-class.
Professor Kumar addressed over 50 judicial officers holding Civil Judge (Senior Division) positions all over the state of Jharkhand on the topics of ‘Globalisation of Legal Education & Legal Profession and its impact on the Indian judiciary. He also lectured on the issues of Corruption & Human Rights to the experienced judicial officers.
The Vice Chancellor gave a keynote address on the evening of 8th September at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL) addressing all the students and faculty members of the National Law School. Hon’ble Chief Justice Mr. Varinder Singh, Hon’ble Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and other sitting and retired judges of High Court, Advocate General and Director of Judicial Academy also attended the event and shared their views on the topic ‘The Future of Legal Education in India: Philanthropy, Excellence and Institution Building’.
VC also visited some of the top schools in the city like DPS Ranchi, JVM Shyamali, Tender Heart School and addressed the senior students about global opportunities in studying law, humanities, social sciences and liberal arts.
Professor Raj Kumar also spoke at Chotanagpur Law College Ranchi on the future of legal education in India. He announced special scholarships for the students of Jharkhand who would be joining O.P. Jindal Global University in future for their higher education to study law, business, liberal arts, economics or global affairs. O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global university established by the Government of Haryana. The vision of JGU is to promote global courses, global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interaction through a global faculty. JGU is situated on an 80-acre state of the art residential campus.
