Biography

Dr. Arif Nadaf holds a PhD in Media Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His doctoral research explored the political relevance of regional media in Kashmir, deconstructing Western paradigms of media-conflict scholarship in the Global South. He subsequently broadened his focus to examine misinformation, public trust, and democracy. Currently, his research focuses on computational research, mainly leveraging natural language processing to study multilingual digital public spheres. His ongoing independent projects examine the socio-technical imaginaries around generative AI and democratic accountability discourses surrounding the Delhi AQI crisis, alongside a parallel study investigating AI-driven misinformation and epistemic crises in Indian newsrooms.

His research has been published in leading academic journals, including Journalism, Government Information Quarterly, and New Media & Society. Additionally, he has engaged in overseas research collaborations with scholars from universities including the National University of Singapore and the Oxford Internet Institute. He also serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for premier journals in the field. Previously, he worked as an overseas research collaborator on the digital political campaigns project at the National University of Singapore. In the classroom, he specializes in teaching political communication, new media and society, and media research.
