A Career in International Affairs

The Office of Career Services (OCS) is aligned to extend extensive support and guidance to JSIA students, pertaining to the career aspects. A team of professionals is devoted in mentoring students to aspire and choose respective professional career, through dedicated career counselling sessions and training programmes. In context of students gaining from the practical exposure. the OCS provides assistance by facilitating internship and placement opportunities with organisations. The sectors may range from United Nations system, Diplomatic Missions, Media group, Think Tanks, Financial Institutions, Not-for-Profit Organisations, Regional, to Semi-Government and Non-Governmental organisations.

The curriculum of B.A. (Hons) (Global Affairs), BA(Hons.) Political science and M.A. (Diplomacy, Law & Business) is engrained with a mandatory guided internship that assist students to choose careers with multiple opportunities in ever-expanding streams like Peace and Conflict Resolution, International Justice, International Economic Development, Humanitarian Relief, Human Rights Advocacy, Political and Economic Risk Analysis etc.

The University also provides the students an opportunity for integrated Capstone Project in the last semester for the Masters Batch where the students work with the set of organisations on a specially assigned project. This gives students an opportunity to a practical learning environment guided by their faculty. Some of the students are absorbed in the organisation leading to a great career options making them versatile international affairs professionals.

Internships

Our students pursue a diverse range of global internship opportunities with leading international organisations and instutions, a sample list given below

Internship Policy for JSIA Students
(Into effect from Fall 2022 – Onwards)

BA Students (BAGA, BAPS & BADFP)

  • BA students should complete three mandatory industry internships in any of the first five semesters (A, B, C, D or E).
  • Each internship carries two credits.
  • Maximum number of credits to be awarded to industry internship is six credits for BA students.
  • Students are required to present evidence of having completed the industry internship and to submit the certificate of completion to Office of Carriers Services as per the rules and guidelines that they announce.

MADLB Students

  • BA students should complete two mandatory industry internships in any of the first three semesters (A, B, or C).
  • Each internship carries two credits
  • Maximum number of credits to be awarded to industry internship is four credits for MADLB students
  • Students are required to present evidence of having completed the industry internship and to submit the certificate of completion to Office of Carriers Services as per the rules and guidelines that they announce.
