Jindal School of Environment and Sustainability (JSES) offers the B.Sc. (Hons.) Environment and Sustainable Development programme, which combines natural and social sciences with the humanities and emphasises scientific knowledge with a specific focus on the Sustainable Development Goals. JSES hopes to support global efforts toward a sustainable future with cutting-edge teaching, research, and practice-based engagement through national and international collaborations, promoting interdisciplinary studies and joint teaching and research programmes.

What Makes It Different at JGU?
Pedagogy
Students who score 75% marks in Sem 1-6 and who are desirous of obtaining B.A. Hons.with Research can opt for a dissertation in the fourth year. Other students (who do not have 75% marks in Sem 1-6 or do not want to pursue B.A. Hons. With Research) will be given the opportunity to complete credit-bearing independent study module. Independent study modules are guided by JSES faculty members and students have the option of inviting external co-supervisors or outside experts so recognized by the JSES and the JGU. In addition, students can select cross-elective/minor courses in the fourth year. A list of such potential elective courses includes:

All admissions to JGU’s academic programmes are conducted strictly on merit. JGU has no management quota, no donation/capitation seats, no NRI/Foreign National quota, and no special quota of any kind.
Paying or offering any form of donation or capitation fee for admission to JGU is illegal, and individuals involved in such activities are liable for criminal prosecution.

Graduates of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Environment and Sustainable Development program from JSES can pursue careers in various fields, including but not limited to conservation, rural development, environmental impact assessment, sustainable energy, waste management, urban and smart city planning, and environmental health. They can also work as environmental managers, consultants, project coordinators and managers, and policy and governance advisors.
As India aims to achieve sustainable development, there is a growing need for stronger environmental governance and compliance. The B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Sustainable Development program can help address the skill gap in this sector by producing skilled professionals and changemakers.
