Srijan Somal is an Assistant Lecturer at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS). He completed his B.A. LL.B. at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow in 2022, with criminal law as an honours specialization. Thereafter, he completed his M.Phil. in Criminology at the University of Cambridge in the 2022-23 cohort. During his M.Phil., Srijan achieved a distinction for his dissertation on ‘A qualitative analysis of the influence of social attributes of the victim and the defendant in child sexual abuse cases in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh’.

Srijan has worked with several academics during his studies, assisting them in the domains of criminal law, constitutional law, and criminology. His areas of interest also include human rights and gender studies. He has written extensively on these subjects and has been published in multiple UGC-CARE-listed journals. He has also been a part of the editorial boards of prestigious journals, most notably the Cambridge International Law Journal (CILJ) and the Cambridge Law Review (CLR). He strongly believes in making higher education more accessible to the marginalized classes, and to that end, has been associated with Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA Charitable Trust) since the first year of his undergraduate studies.
