Biography

Prof. Swati Malik is an Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, India, where she has been a faculty member since 2015. Prof. Malik completed her LL.B. from O.P. Jindal Global University as a recipient of the prestigious Savitri Jindal Merit Scholarship and was awarded the Gold Medal for Overall Academic Excellence for the graduating class of 2013. She subsequently pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the James E. Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona, USA, where she was awarded the Dean's Achievement Scholarship. During her studies, she earned a specialisation certificate in Family and Juvenile Law, was placed on the Dean's List for academic distinction, and gained valuable practical experience through internships with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, Public Advocacy and Civil Rights Division, and the University's Immigration Law Clinic. She later completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Trade and Business Law from the University of Arizona. During her LL.M., she was recognised as the Outstanding Student Volunteer for her work with the Volunteer Lawyers Program in Tucson, Arizona.

Since joining Jindal Global Law School, Prof. Malik has taught a wide range of undergraduate courses, including Family Law I, Family Law II, Property Law, Law of Crimes, and Labour Law II. She currently teaches the elective course Law of Equity and Trusts: Understanding Estate Planning in India. Over the years, she has also served as a course coordinator, supervised student research projects, and contributed extensively to curriculum development and various academic and administrative initiatives within the University.

Her recent scholarship explores the legal, ethical, and regulatory implications of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. Her current research examines issues relating to intersection of private law, technology, and social justice, AI governance, deepfake technology, mental health applications of AI, copyright, algorithmic decision-making, and digital rights. In addition to her work in technology law, she continues to research and write on Family Law, succession and estate planning, disability law, gender justice, and public interest issues.

Prof. Malik has presented her research at several national and international conferences, including conferences held in Austria, Sri Lanka, Japan, and the United Kingdom. She has published research in Scopus-indexed conference proceedings and edited volumes on the intersection of artificial intelligence and law, while also contributing to significant policy-oriented publications, including a Law Commission of India Report, a district Gazetteer, and collaborative research on reproductive rights and public health law.
