Soumya Singh Chauhan is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. She holds a B.A. LL.B. from Panjab University and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Policy Law from the University of Washington School of Law, Seattle. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Law at O.P. Jindal Global University.
Her research interests lie in technology law and data protection, privacy, surveillance, artificial intelligence, and the regulation of emerging technologies, as well as their implications for civil liberties and democratic governance.
Before entering academia, Soumya worked in intellectual property and trademark practice in India and the United States. During her time in Seattle, she worked with the Technology and Liberty Project of the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington, where she contributed to research and advocacy concerning public-sector surveillance technologies and privacy protections. She has also worked with cultural and non-profit organisations on intellectual property and compliance matters.
At Jindal Global Law School she has designed and developed interdisciplinary courses that examine the intersection of law, technology, governance, and civil liberties.
In addition to her academic work, she maintains an interest in the relationship between law, art, culture, and technology.
