Sonal Verma is a distinguished professional with extensive expertise in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) advisory. As a Partner at Dhir & Dhir Associates, he advises organizations on integrating sustainability into their strategies and operations, with a particular focus on sustainable finance. In his role as Global Leader for Markets & Strategy, he drives innovative approaches to align financial frameworks with environmental and social goals. With a robust background in legal and strategic advisory, Sonal has been a key contributor to the ESG landscape, guiding stakeholders in adopting responsible and impactful financial practices. 

With over a decade of experience, he is renowned for his work in regulatory and compliance programs, having served over 1,800 clients across India and 61 countries, including top unicorns and Fortune 500 companies in industries such as automotive, pharma, BFSI, and fintech. Sonal has led multi-million-dollar mandates for global accounts, offering insights into legal intricacies, risk mitigation, and sustainable finance. He began his career in-house at Barclaycard HQ (UK) and held a senior role at a Big 4 firm in legal risk transformation. An LLM graduate from the University of Northampton (UK), enrolled with the Bar of Maharashtra & Goa since 2007, and trained in executive programs from Harvard, IIM Bangalore, and others, Sonal leads India’s first ESG Practice. He has authored four books, including A Legal Guide to Capital Raising in European Union (2009), and serves on the Board of Studies at NMIMS Law College since 2014.
