2024 marked 15 years of the Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS). As we reflect on our journey over the past decade and a half, CJLS is delighted to convene a year long series of lectures and conversation series from Fall 2024 through Spring 2025, titled Epistemic Echoes: Unveiling ‘Minor Knowledges.’

About the Speaker : Priya Thuvassery
Priya Thuvassery is an independent documentary filmmaker and television producer based in New Delhi, India. Her work focuses on challenging gender inequality by amplifying women’s voices and perspectives, offering profound insights into lives shaped by the intersections of body, environment, and community.
With over 15 years of experience, Priya has collaborated with prominent organizations such as PSBT, NDTV, CNA, and the Films Division of India to produce thought-provoking films that confronts entrenched narratives. Her independent films— Coral Woman, Survey Number Zero, City Girls, and My Sacred Glass Bowl—have captivated global audiences and earned acclaim for their nuanced, impactful storytelling. Priya’s vision extends beyond her filmmaking. She is recognized as a Global Ford Fellow, an INLAKS Fellow, and a Canon Cinema EOS Ambassador. A former Co-Director of the IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival and an alumna of the Anwar Jamal Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia, Priya is currently the Co-CEO of Chambal Media.
