About the Speaker : Jeffrey Richstone
Mr. Richstone entered the Québec Bar in the 70s and continued in private practice for a decade. In1981, Mr. Richstone was appointed as a Legal Counsel for the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada; and represented their legal footing on aboriginal peoples’ rights at the four constitutional conferences from 1983-1987. He was also the Director General, Headquarters Counsel Group, Public Prosecution Service of Canada, Government of Canada.
Joining the federal Government of Canada’s Department of Justice, Mr. Richstone worked on multiple files of significance including constitutional law, administrative law, copyright law, labour law, antitrust, heritage property law, and investment law. Following this extraordinary experience, Mr. Richstone joined the Public Prosecution Service of Canada in 2009 and worked there at the headquarters. Mr. Richstone’s key focus areas were regulatory prosecutions, foreign corruption cases and corporate fraud cases.
With over 40 years of legal service, including in the federal government, Mr. Richstone retired from service in 2021. In retirement, Mr. Richstone is a member of three arts & culture organizations, and currently serves on the executive Board of Directors in two of them.
