Half-Day Workshop on Critical Caste Studies (CCS). 
Critical Caste Studies is an emerging disciplinary field which offers a distinct methodology and approach to critical knowledge production on the Global South, and on Caste and Dalit studies in particular.  The Workshop will engage with the question of what critical caste studies is, and examine its intersections with Indian intellectual history, gender, class, law and religion. The workshop begins with a lecture delivered by Dr. Gajendran Ayyathurai on CCS. The lecture will be followed by a discussion of Dr. Ayyathurai’s book Tamil Buddhism and Brahminism in Modern India: Deep Resistance against Caste (Oxford University Press, 2025).
