Konina Mandal is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, where she teaches courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, and the law of evidence.
Konina holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) with a specialization in Criminal Law from KIIT University and an LL.M. in Criminal Justice, Family and Social Welfare from University College London (UCL). Her master's dissertation, Offender Rehabilitation Strategies in the United Kingdom and India: Emphasizing the Therapeutic Community Way, examined comparative models of offender rehabilitation and explored the potential of therapeutic communities within criminal justice systems. Her work reflects a sustained interest in therapeutic jurisprudence and rehabilitative approaches to justice.
Before joining Jindal Global Law School, Konina worked as an Academic Programme Coordinator at the Centre for Child Rights, National Law University Odisha, a UNICEF-supported initiative. In this role, she contributed to research projects on child rights and juvenile justice, assisted in capacity-building programmes for Child Welfare Committees and Juvenile Justice Boards, and participated in policy-oriented engagements concerning child protection.
Her research lies at the intersection of criminal law, criminal justice, criminology, and penology. She has a particular interest in criminal law reform, correctional administration, restorative and therapeutic justice, surveillance and policing, prison studies, juvenile justice, and the relationship between law, psychology, and behavioural sciences. Her recent scholarship has increasingly focused on comparative criminal justice, the implementation of India's new criminal laws, technology in criminal justice, and questions surrounding rehabilitation, state power, and procedural fairness.
Konina often presents her research at national and international conferences and is committed to interdisciplinary scholarship that bridges legal doctrine with empirical and policy-oriented perspectives.
