Biography

Yukti Kumar is working as an Assistant Dean for the Office of the Vice Dean for Clinical Legal Education and a Lecturer at Jindal Global Law School. O. P. Jindal Global University, India. She obtained her Master of Law (LL.M.) in General Legal Studies and undergraduate B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from Jindal Global Law School. She also visited the University of Oxford (UK) for a Summer School to learn International Law and Global Governance during her under graduation at JGLS. She has been awarded merit-based scholarships, Best University Citizenship and Public Service Award (2019), Most Promising New Student Initiative Award (2019), Institution building Award (2020), Dean's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Social Service and Community Engagement (2020), Eleventh Anniversary & Celebration of the university Day (JGU) - Awarded letter of Appreciation for Best university citizenship and public service award (2020-21) and many more.

Yukti Kumar had worked with Clinical Programmes as JGU's student coordinator for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). UBA is a Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, programme that requires participating academic institutions to adopt at least 5 villages around them Thus, JGU adopted 10 villages in Sonipat and She became JGU's face in these villages. She made extraordinary efforts in leading UBA for JGU in these villages. From organising sanitation drives to legal literacy camps and gram sabha meetings on several important issues of village development, her work has played a key role in the discharge of JGU's functions for UBA and UGC teams that inspected JGU's work on sanitation (for swachhta rankings), her contributions played a significant role.

Prior to joining Jindal Global Law School, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Law at RV University, Bengaluru. She was one of the founding faculty members and received an Excellent Performer Award and Outstanding Contribution to Social Service and Community Engagement. She was a key member in establishing the Rotaract Club and National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Ministry of Youth Services at RV University. In Addition, she also collaborated with 50 community-based organisations under the Centre for Legal Aid and Community Engagement and worked on several other initiatives.

She is also pursuing a Part-time PhD on “Analysing the Role of Legal Aid Assistance for Undertrial Prisoners: A Focuson Bail Provisions and their Impact". Her Area of Interest Lies in teaching clinical courses, promoting community service, and working for institution building.
