Yashmita has completed her undergrad in law from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She was awarded the highest merit scholarship by Pepperdine University, California to pursue LL.M in Dispute Resolution. In addition to completing her Master’s with an exceptional academic record, she also served as a Mediator in Small Claims Courts of Los Angeles County and the Government Department of Fair Employment and Housing, where she helped resolving petty monetary issues and employment disputes. During her LL.M, she also interned in the Los Angeles City Attorney office in a law diversion program and performed legal counselling of young misdemeanor offenders in conflict with law. Simultaneously, Yashmita provided research assistance to the Director of Law School through which she obtained an insight of cultural dynamics that affect legal problems in America. She also gained a hands-on experience learning advanced research methodology and unique research tools to do an intense study for measuring the success of ADR techniques.
Research in the field of Human Rights and exploring unique methods like mediation and negotiation practices have not only remained her passion but have also stimulated her curiosity to do a deeper root cause analysis of the legal issues peculiar to different social situations by conducting practical research in addition to attending conferences and seminars to discuss researched suggestions. Yashmita has also published some work related to problems faced by vulnerable groups like women, children, transgenders and others in India. She is keen to discover similar issues globally to invent best possible solutions.
