Biography

Sampada Nayak is an Assistant Professor at JGLS. She has worked extensively on environmental legal governance, enforcement of environmental laws, access to environmental and climate justice and legal empowerment of vulnerable communities. She is a Chevening Scholar who pursued her LL.M. in Environmental Laws and Sustainable Development from SOAS University of London. Previously she has worked with the Environment Justice team at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) in India for four years where she worked with communities facing environmental impacts in Gujarat and Odisha. She completed her undergraduate degree in law from National Law University Odisha (NLUO).

She currently teaches environmental laws at JGLS and has also taught subjects like labour laws, History of Courts and Legal Methods before. At Jindal, she also works as the Senior Research Associate with the Environmental Law clinic. Her current research sits at the intersection of environmental governance, access to commons and access to environmental justice for marginalised communities.
