Biography

Prof. Suprita Acharya completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from School of Law, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. She has earned her Master’s degree from Francis King Carey School of Law, University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD where she received the Dean’s Excellence Award for her academic performance upon completion of her LLM.  She also served as the President of the Student Bar Association during her time at the Carey School of Law. 

Post her LLM, she clerked for a law firm in Baltimore, MD where she was drafting pleadings, memos and complaints for the District Courts of the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. 

Her areas of teaching and research interest are intellectual property rights and data privacy. She has a keen interest in researching on surveillance issues from a socio-legal lens. In addition, she loves to read about and look at art.
