Biography

Shubham Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Global Law School (JGLS). Prior to this appointment, he served as Consultant (Research) at the Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court of India, where he undertook advanced constitutional, empirical, and institutional research on judicial administration, pendency reduction, and court reform, contributing directly to high-level judicial and institutional outputs.

Shubham holds an LL.M. from the University of Windsor, Canada, where he was a fully funded Graduate Research Scholar and Transnational Law and Racial Justice Network Graduate Fellow. His thesis, Deconstructing Caste-Based Private Discrimination: A Comparative Examination of India and Canada, was nominated for the Governor General’s Medal. He earned his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, with sustained engagement in constitutional scholarship, mooting, and academic governance.

A Legislative Assistant to Member of Parliament (LAMP) Fellow, Shubham has also worked closely with the Parliament of India, supporting legislative drafting, parliamentary questions, committee work, and policy research. His professional experience spans the judicial, legislative, and executive branches, including engagements with the Supreme Court of India and the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice. He has published widely in leading journals, edited volumes, and institutional reports, including Economic & Political Weekly, CASTE: A Global Journal on Social Exclusion, and publications of the Supreme Court of India. Alongside teaching, he remains actively engaged in research mentoring, public legal education, and policy-oriented scholarship.
