Biography

Prof. (Dr.) Manas Raturi is Associate Professor and Associate Director, Dr. L.M. Singhvi Centre for Constitutional Law and Parliamentary Studies. He also serves as Associate Director of The Constitution Museum and The Rights & Freedom Academy. Prior to joining O.P. Jindal Global University, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Pluralist Agreement and Constitutional Transformation (PACT), the Quill Project at the Faculty of History, University of Oxford. As part of his postdoctoral research, he analysed archival records relating to letters, petitions, and memoranda submitted by socio-religious groups to the Constituent Assembly of India. This research contributed to the development of source materials for the Quill Project, a digital humanities platform that maps the complex drafting, deliberation, and negotiation processes underlying the creation of constitutions. The documents identified and analysed through his research were exhibited as part of ‘After the Assembly: Constituting India,’ a public exhibition at the SOAS Gallery, London, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India. Dr. Raturi received his PhD in Sociology from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi. For his PhD research, he undertook an ethnography of a leprosy complex in Delhi and critiqued the medical epistemologies influencing leprosy ‘eradication’ policy in India. Prior to his academic appointments, Dr. Raturi worked as a Research Assistant to Legislators at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, where he provided research and policy support to Members of Parliament through legislative and policy briefs.
