Biography

Ayushi Singh is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, where she primarily teaches courses in International Trade and Investment Law. She is a Fellow at the Centre for International Investment and Trade Laws (JGLS) and a member of the Committee for Academic Support on Higher Education and Learning (CASHEL).

Her academic credentials include an LL.M. in International Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge (2021–22), where her thesis examined the intersection of data governance and trade law. During her time at Cambridge, she served as Secretary of the Postgraduate Committee (Middle Common Room) at Murray Edwards College. She also co-authored a submission to the OECD public consultation on Investment Treaties and Climate Change with Professor Jorge E. Viñuales as part of the Cambridge Research Group on Investment Treaties and Climate Change. She earned her BBA-LLB from the University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, where she was the batch topper in International Trade Law and International Commercial Law, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade and Business Law from the Indian Society of International Law, securing third position in her batch.

Professor Singh’s research spans public international law, international trade law, international investment law, digital trade regulation, data governance and sovereignty, and intellectual property. Her work engages with WTO law and dispute settlement, digital services trade, investment arbitration, and the regulatory dimensions of emerging technologies, including AI and blockchain. She has presented and published papers on international trade law, intellectual property, data governance, and sustainable development. Her work has appeared in publications by the WTO Secretariat, including a contribution on Sustainable Development Goal 11 to the WTO's 2023 update to the UN High-Level Political Forum.

Professor Singh brings extensive international institutional experience to her academic role. She served as an Intern in the Trade in Services Division at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva and as an External Consultant at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where she contributed to the OECD Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (STRI), Digital STRI, and intra-EEA STRI regulatory database updates for India. She previously worked as a Consultant for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on a joint ESCAP-OECD research project on digital trade regulatory integration in the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to the Regional Digital Trade Regulatory Indicator Index (RDTRII) and the Digital Services Trade Restrictiveness Index. She also served as a Research Assistant to Dr. Aniruddha Rajput, Member of the United Nations International Law Commission, conducting research on digital trade provisions in FTAs, WTO jurisprudence, ICSID cases, and investment arbitration.

Beyond her scholarship, Professor Singh has been actively involved in legal capacity-building initiatives for farmers, including programmes under the Ministry of Agriculture, focusing on legal rights, intellectual property, and agricultural schemes.
