Biography

Ashwin Upreti is an India-qualified lawyer, having been called to the bar and enrolled at the Bar Council of India as well as Bar Council of Rajasthan. He holds an undergraduate law degree from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, India and a Master of Laws from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), United Kingdom. Previously, he has been associated with the Office of Advocate General of Rajasthan, Office of Chief Justice of Rajasthan and the State Human Rights Commission - besides advising private entities. He has also been empanelled as a pro-bono Advocate for Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. 

Ashwin’s prior research work has been cited by constitutional courts in India and was the basis of a major suo-motu public interest action in the state of Rajasthan. Besides this, Ashwin’s articles have been featured across leading publications including Columbia Public Policy Review, Rights Views (Columbia University), Indian Journal of Medical Ethics amongst others.
