B.A. LL.B. (Hons), Jindal Global Law School (2021)
Mahima Balaji completed her undergraduate degree in law from Jindal Global Law School, and then read for the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford. While at Jindal, Mahima contributed to several research projects in the field of international human rights law, and also co-founded the Jindal Forum for International and Economic Laws — which is presently a student-run online publication platform affiliated to Jindal Global Law School.
At Oxford, Mahima was the recipient of the Tony Honoré Scholarship in Law and was also a J.N. Tata Scholar. Her focus was primarily geared towards public law and human rights. After the completion of her BCL, Mahima was awarded the Samuel Pisar Travelling Fellowship in Human Rights by the Bonavero Institute at Oxford. This enabled her to take on a judicial fellowship with the Supreme Court of Namibia in 2022. Here, she worked under the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Namibia, Judge Peter S. Shivute, and assisted the legal officers and other sitting judges of the Namibian Supreme Court.
Her research interests are in the fields of international human rights law, environmental law, and anti-discrimination law.
