Biography

Prof. Harsh Mahaseth is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, India. He previously held the role of the Assistant Director of the Nehginpao Kipgen Center for Southeast Asian Studies, and Faculty Coordinator for the JGLS Client Counselling Society.

Prof. Mahaseth is a visiting faculty at NALSAR University of Law and Mahindra University. He is also the co-founder of CollegeIt, a platform to help people connect with students and alumni while applying to universities abroad. 

Prof. Mahaseth specializes in Public International Law, with a focus on Asian Legal Studies, particularly in South and Southeast Asia. He has completed his Master of Laws (Asian Legal Studies) from the National University of Singapore and his B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from NALSAR University of Law, India. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Indian Institute of Governance & Leadership and a Diploma in Freelance and Feature Writing from the London School of Journalism.

Prof. Mahaseth has a prolific record of over 40 international peer-reviewed academic journal publications and more than 145 publications in renowned international newspapers, magazines, and academic blogs. His research contributions have been recognized through various accolades, including the Award for Research Excellence, the Best Research Scholar Award, and the Emerging Scholar Award. He has recently been listed as one of the Top-Cited International Law Scholars in India, a list created by the Indian Blog of International Law that contains names of legal stalwarts of India. His research on “The Geopolitical Influence of India and Indonesia in SAARC and ASEAN” was recently adjudged as the finalist in the 2024 E-International Relations Article Award, sponsored by Edinburgh University Press, Polity, Sage, Bloomsbury, and Routledge. He has also secured research grants from esteemed institutions such as the Ministry of Law and Justice, the Government of India, the British Council, UNICEF, and UNFPA. 

Prof. Mahaseth has taught courses and workshops at numerous universities across Asia. He has taught innovative courses including “Asian Regional Organizations and Their Interplay with the Law,” “ASEAN Law, Policy, and Governance,” “The Art of Legal Writing,” “Critical Issues in Criminal Justice,” Editorial Workshops, and Foreign Opportunities Workshops. He also sits on the Editorial Committee of numerous journals.
