Dr. Wasiq Abass is currently Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School. He is also Assistant Director/ Assistant Dean of JGLS Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies (CPGLS) and Assistant Director JGLS Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR). He teaches courses on International Commercial Arbitration, International Investment Law and Investment Arbitration, and Contract Law to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

He completed his S.J.D. (PhD in Law) in International Business Law from Central European University, Budapest, in 2019. He was awarded ‘Full CEU Doctoral Scholarship’ by the Central European University Foundation of Budapest. His doctoral research focused on issues related to International Commercial Arbitration.

Dr. Wasiq holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law from South Asian University, India and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Pune, India. He passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission of India, in 2013.

Wasiq has practiced law before various courts and tribunals in Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. He has also assisted several Arbitral Tribunals engaged in high stake arbitrations in India.

In 2017, as a Global Teaching Fellow of Central European University, he introduced courses on International Commercial Arbitration and International Investment Law and Investment Arbitration at the University of Yangon, Myanmar. He was invited as Berger and Clarke visiting research scholar at the Cornell Law School, New York, during the Fall semester of 2017. In September 2018, he was invited to attend the Dickson Poon School of Law at the King’s College London as a visiting researcher.

Dr. Wasiq has published in international journals and has contributed chapters in several edited volumes published by internationally reputed publishing houses. The research areas that interest him include International Commercial Arbitration, International Investment Law, Investment Arbitration, Commercial Mediation, Private International Law, and certain areas of Public International Law.
