Biography

Sourav is Associate Professor of Law at Jindal Global Law School of O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat. He also sits on the Editorial Board of Jindal Global Law Review (Springer) as their Associate Editor. 

Previously, he has held visiting faculty positions at Georgetown University’s Centre for Transnational Legal Studies, London (Fall 2024 term) and was a nominated member of the school board of School of Gender and Development Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (2022-2024). 

His scholarship sits on the intersections of Law and Society; Gender, Sexuality and Governance; Global Queer Movements and Law Reform. He has published in various national and international journals, and newspapers. He has previously taught courses on Constitutional Law of India; Human Rights Law in South Asia; Comparative Public Law; Gender, Sexuality and Family Law. At JGLS, he teaches Constitutional Law, and Legal Methods to undergraduate law students and Comparative Public Law to Graduate law students. Additionally, he offers an elective course titled ‘Queering Kinship, Family, Intimate Relationships in Law, Theory and Practice’. 

Previously, he was Assistant Professor at the School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore, India where he offered undergraduate courses on Constitutional Law; Human Rights; and Law and Society. Before that, he had worked with the Centre for Women and Law, National Law School of India University on their Human Rights Lawyering Project.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Law from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India for his research over the impact of family jurisprudence on queer lives in India. Formerly, a Felix Scholar, he received Master of Research (M. Res.) in Law and Society from the School of Law, University of Reading, United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, India and Bachelor of Arts and Law (B.A., LL.B.) from Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India.
